HI! I’m Kaamila and welcome to my online store, A Common Thread LDN.
My inspiration to start this journey came from working at a social enterprise based in India as the UK Head of Operations. My work involved managing and understanding the supply chain, supporting the artisans through initiatives set up from our profits, understanding the nuances in working with an Indian supply chain, and our compliance with Fairtrade practices. I was able to travel to India and meet with our artisans and organic farmers. Being a part of this company for so long and my love for travel and experiencing different cultures, developed my love for products that had a handmade, artisanal, and tribal/cultural element to them. This then influenced the products I bought into my home.
A Common Thread LDN was founded to connect customers with artisans and producers from different cultures, all over the world – bringing together unique products and stories to the UK market. ACT sells eco-friendly, sustainable homeware, décor and fashion, sourced and produced in an ethical, fair and sustainable way. An important driver for this company will be adhering to ethical and supportive business practices - not because we want accreditation, but because it’s something we believe in. With growth and expansion, our work will always be governed by a desire to always be accountable and transparent in our actions. The goal of ACT is to bring together uniquely crafted homeware and textiles from eco-centric, handmade, sustainable producers and suppliers at a fair price.
Through the ACT website and the curated selection of products available, I want the customer to not only feel inspired to purchase but also to travel themselves and experience the culture that comes with the craft.
